Since the mid-2000s, Deidre Hoguet has been involved in sustainable product research and design. In her current role at Designtex as Manager of Environmental Strategy, she is part of the team responsible for the corporate sustainability plan, from product sustainability to carbon footprint reduction. She helped develop a lifecycle approach to assessing sustainability in Designtex's product line. Her carbon footprint work has led Designtex to become carbon neutral in its operations, beginning in 2010. A major aspect of Deidre's work is to provide education on CSR and environmental product metrics to employees, suppliers, customers and end-users, and to this end she conducts continuing education courses.
Deidre says, "A personal passion of mine is to find ways to get end-of-life possibilities designed into products, to keep them out of landfills. I "grew up" (so to speak) on MBDC's cradle-to-cradle philosophy, which Designtex first embarked upon in the early 90’s. I love the challenge of considering future uses of a product or material, and enjoy researching ways to get those features designed into new products."
Deidre has also shown professionally as an artist, having received her undergraduate degree in painting in 1997. To see her artist's CV please contact her directly.
